Tell us a little about yourself, Mike
I was born and raised in Joppa, IL. My wife, Sharon and I moved to Metropolis approximately 35 years ago. Sharon and I have been married for 38 years and have two daughters, two son-in-laws, three grandsons and a chocolate lab named Hershey. I retired in 2014 after working at Electric Energy Inc for 35 years before coming to Linwood Buick GMC. I love spending time with my grandsons, watching them play ball, taking them fishing, hunting, and biking with them. I am a huge baseball fan in general and really enjoy the St. Louis Cardinals.
How long have you worked at Linwood Buick GMC?
I have worked at Linwood in Metropolis for one year and three months now.
What do you like most about your job?
What I enjoy most about my job as a sales associate is meeting and talking with all of our customers. I like helping them find a vehicle that works well with their budget, lifestyle, and needs.
What three words would you use to describe your role?
Customer. Comes. First!
What’s your favorite vehicle and why?
My favorite vehicle is the Dodge Charger because of its “old school” Mopar roots. It reminds me of my teenage years!
What do you do when you’re not at work?
I love spending time in all the activities I mentioned before with my three “apples of my eye” grandsons. There is nothing better in life.
What’s your favorite thing to do in or around Metropolis?
I really like going to the Fort Massac Encampment in the fall. You get to see what life was like back in the 1700s and early 1800s, hear the boom of cannons and watch battle re-enactments.
What’s your favorite line from a film?
“Surprised Eddie? If I woke up tomorrow morning with my head sewn to the carpet I wouldn’t be more surprised than I am right now.’ – Christmas Vacation
What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
Visiting with my grandsons. If you can’t tell already, they are a huge part of my life!
What is your hidden talent?
In my day I was a pretty decent baseball player. I was scouted by and spoke to a couple of major league teams during my senior year in high school. I also had some decent college scholarship offers to play baseball. Even at 59 years old, I can still play a little bit even though the next day I physically pay for it… Haha!
